Why do people make a big deal about how tattoos look when you get old?
wondermermaid asked:
Is anyone going to think I'm hot when I'm eighty with or without a tattoo anyway? I would think a grandma with a tattoo was pretty cool. Maybe it's just me.
It's OFFENSE people with an S not a C. Sorry, but if you can't spell it ruins what you have to say!

ummm, cuz maybe when you got a tattoo when you were 18, it was on your waist & by the time you’re 68, its gone “DOWN.” No offence, but EWWWWW!!

I wonder the same thing, who gives a damn what I am going to look like when I am eighty? I’m 27 and life’s short, I say live it to the fullest. I love tattoos and don’t plan on stopping any time soon in fact I have about 4 or 5 different ideas for new tats right now.

Because they begin to look all wrinkly and the tatoo begins to look really ugly.

People think that because that is unusual. I didn’t say uncool, that is not my opinion. Depends what it is, and where it is at. I mean, a rose on the ankle would be OK, but not a skeleton on the hip. Really, you don’t want to but yourself out there when you get older. If a tatoo is your wish, then I say go for it Grandma!

if my grandma had a tattoo then i would think that she was alot cooler than she is now i have a tattoo and i don’t care if i get old i love my tattoo and if you like yours then you wont have a problem with it when you get older

Obviously when you get your tattoo, your skin will be in great shape, so when you are 80 that skin will definitely not be in the same shape as when you had it done. Ditto with the last answer. Put Mickey Mouse on your hip, by 80 he’ll be down by your crotch. Tattooed grannys are not cool. They are dirty.

It’s not just you ….. and the reason you hear it repeated on here ALL OF THE TIME…… The tattoo haters can’t come up with anything better…….
It’s like someone else said…..I would rather be sitting in a nursing home regretting my ink than sitting in a nursing home wishing I had gotten ink when I was younger…
just one tattooed wise @sses opinion

Yep. It’s just you! They are disgusting on anyone. Young or old! But that’s just me!

It’s just the haters trying to come up with something they think is feasible to denounce our preferences for body art.
Most people I know like their tattoos more as they get older because they appreciate fine art. The only problem is with lesser quality work done by scratchers or when people under 18 make bad choices.
Body art does not go through as much change as people here would lead you to believe — very little, actually.

I’ve thought about that question too.
I don’t expect anyone to look super **** when they are 60, 70+ and I figure most of my generation will all look the same anyway, so it won’t be a huge deal to see another grandma/pa with wrinkled ink (which I think would be awesome, plus, you can bet the grandma with ink will have 10x more interesting stories than the others)
And life is short, I don’t want to spend my golden years wondering about the what ifs…I’d rather do them!

some people don’t understand the concept to live like you were dying. life’s short. we should be able to do as many things as we can that we want to do for the moment. of course sometimes you might have regrets, but i’d rather live for the moment and do what i want when i want. it keeps life exciting. if you live the same boring life over and over, you’ll miss out.

Skin ages *way* faster when it sees a lot of sun. *A lot* faster. Not only that, but later in life you get effects on aging when you tan a lot that don’t see if you stay out of the sun. The folks who are so concerned that they might look like crap when they’re 80… do they consider what the sun is doing to them *now* and how that’s going to look then? I’d rather have a poor tat than the burnt leather look these folks will have.
I know a number of grandmothers (and grandfathers) who are tattooed. Invariably, I’ve found them to be very cool, very active, very much not the types who **** & moan in some rest home. Plus, as pointed out, the art doesn’t change that much.
It’s easy to be young when you’re young. It takes character and spirit when you’re not.

i agree. maybe these people are so vain that they actually think they will still be hot and alluring when they are 80. i absolutely think it is cool to see a grandmother with tattoos and i plan on being one of those grandmothers… years and years and years from now!

I agree!! I think when I am 80 with wrinkly tatts I will be able to look back and rememer my crazy youth! At least My grandchildren will have good stories to hear…..And you are right! Who checks out 80 year olds anyway! We are all gonna be ugly!

When I’m eighty years old I’m sure my great grand kids will love me tatts and all (specially if I keep candy handy to spoil them with)! Thats all that matters to me. Like my son said when he was a bit younger: “Mommy, your just like a coloring book”. Atleast I will have something to talk about to all the other old folks!
