I am learning a Japanese tattoo themed sleeve and I do not want to disrespect their culture or get some factor that doesn't imply what I believe it signifies. What is a fantastic resource or manual on the which indicates Japanese tattoos.

i dont know where you can find that kind of information, maybe talk to a japanese guy, in person, because i heard once that a guy got this chinese tatoo and it meant, “I’m a faggot” so be careful.
you should find a japanese person and ask them.
Hi, I am half-Japanese so I can probably help you a bit with what kind of tattoo you should get…There are a lot of reliable online websites which can help you such as:
which has a lot of links depending on what tattoo you want.
I would like to give you some advice though. First, remember that both Japanese and Chinese characters are similar, but often have subtle differences in the strokes. Secondly, Japanese characters can be divided into 3 categories (kanji (same as Chinese), hiragana and katakana)
You probably do not want a hiragana tattoo. Katakana is only used when you are directly changing a foreign word into Japanese. You probably do not want a katakana tattoo either unless you want to have one of your name…I think it’s kind of tacky though.
Words formed with kanji often are 1-3 characters combined.
Anyway, if you have a specific word you want, just add it to your comments or whatever and I can get back to you.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask a JAPANESE person, or at least a person who has studied the language for sometime. Being an Asian Studies Major I have seen sooo many people with ridiculous characters imprinted on their flesh that they got from the net and they usually make NO sense/don’t mean what they thought. And they walk around all full of themselves it’s really kinda pathetic. There can be many characters that can have similar meanings and online translators/sites are NOT sensitive to that.
If you can’t get a person, there are kanji dictionaries. At least then you can read and compare the meaning of each character, i’d still ask to be sure
