You are attempting to apply "which means" exactly where there is none. Tribal designs are absolutely nothing more than attractive (if carried out properly) tattoos of the tribal type. You your self stated "tribals are ...carried out without which indicates." The only time there is a which indicates is if the fashion resembles an object or other symbol. The person needed a dragon, but considers dragons overdone, then found a great tribal artist and created a tribal dragon.
