School Uniform is one thing which can not be forgotten. We have a relation with it for over a decade. It teaches the students how to identify themselves among a group of similarly dressed children.

Among the children, there is an affinity for social groups. They become a part of gangs existing in schools. With time, they develop their own dressing styles and do so to associate themselves with a gang. Such gangs promote violence and spoil the school atmosphere.

Students often have different cultural backgrounds. A uniform helps remove all the socio-economic and cultural barriers among the children. It is important to make them all feel a part of the same society.

Students can feel proud of their school. Uniforms play the most important role in getting them to do so. They start identifying themselves as a part of their school. Gradually they learn to have a sense of pride.

A sense of uniqueness is not created by one's clothes. There are things more important than fashion. The school environment can be saved only with uniforms. Designer clothes do not provide any benefit to children but create greater disparities between richer and poorer children.

If there were no uniforms, there would be kids more interested in clothes than studies. The authorities do not want children to concentrate on their appearance more than on studies. Their attention will be diverted elsewhere and the concentration on studies will be reduced.

It is also important for the children not to be overly revealing. They should help build a school spirit. A uniform also helps reduce fighting and tension problems. Some children can not afford expensive and name brand dresses.

Also there are other conservative social groups which are against the withdrawal of uniforms in schools. They stress that children should learn to become disciplined and they can not learn it by affiliating themselves to various gangs at educational institutions.

RetroBunny asked:

What are your thoughts about teen girls getting tattoos?
If a girl is 16, and can legally get a tattoo, should a parent step in?
What do you think of parents who support tattoos?
By the way, this is a completely impersonal question.
I'm a late teenager, and don't have any kids.
I'm just curious.
Oh, and it's legal in Canada to get a tattoo at 16.

I have a tattoo and a belly button ring. I am an adult, but I have not told/shown my mother because I do not want to have to deal with her anger. Will somebody please tell me what they think is so wrong with tattoos and piercings? What makes them taboo?
I guess I want parents' opinions....I am young (23), and I want to know how would you react and what is the big deal if your daughter gets tattoos/piercings?
