I am 5'2" and have usually been a "gown girl". To be sincere, it is much more about how easy it is to place on a gown and be done. No mixing. No matching. I'm prepared to head out the door. The only difficulty is discovering night dresses that match my shorter figure. Now that I am in my forties I feel like I have finally gotten it down to a science. Whilst I do adore to shop, I don't adore trying things on. Specifically the wrong things. Here is what I have chosen up along the way.
One of the most substantial things when shopping for night dresses for petites is to look for smaller, simpler silhouettes. I attempt to maintain away from overly choosy types like big ruffles, large prints, and especially complete or pleated skirts. These types just appear to crush my physique so that all you see is a gown with appendages. Not good.
There appear to be many gown options in stores this yr. I attempt to discover sheaths (somewhat slimmer, not the voluminous ones), and empire waistline types. The empire waistline functions on many physique kinds and I especially like cocktail and night dresses in this fashion. They are usually flattering.
For those of us 5'4" or under, gown lengths ought to arrive to the knee or just over it. Evening dresses below the knee will just make you look like you don't have any legs and will, in fact, make you appear shorter. Be cautious and don't go as well brief, or you will look like a teen in a mini gown. If you don't sew, discover a good alteration person to take things up for you. A good expert seamstress will also know how to make your clothes work for you.
There are a couple of guidelines that I remember from Home Economics course that I think actually are fairly helpful! V-necks are good for shorter women because they focus and carry the eye up to your encounter. Use a little belt to carry in the waistline. Avoid broad belts because they tend to cut you in two. Again, that will make you look shorter.
Look for night dresses that highlight your greatest functions or the things you like about yourself. If you have good toned arms show off that work-out with sleeveless night dresses. On the other hand, if you don't like your arms, look for a sleeve or add a shrug, wrap, or brief sweater. Also, if you have a good neck or decolletage, by all means look for night dresses that highlight your neckline.
As far as colours go, I appear to head for solids or smaller subdued prints. I have to battle a battle with myself to not consistently select the black. It is so flattering, but after awhile you feel like you have gone goth! I have blue eyes so I do look for colours that carry that out.
