Do not get a kit. Just by a henna cone from an indian store or somthing, and then do the pattern you want.

I’ve never had one but my friend was telling me about how her mom got one of the kits and she loved it. My school also has a fair every year and they have a booth for henna done by some of our students and it’s a hit.

The good ones from reputable sellers will be worth it, the ones sitting on a bookstore shelf probably aren’t worth the money. Here’s the thing, henna is actually kinda cheap, but like all plants it needs to be fresh to be best. Stale henna sucks like stale tea or stale oregano, so trust people that keep their powders in freezers. Henna sitting on a shelf for months or years will likely be stale and stain poorly.

Everything else you need to mix henna you probably have. Sour liquid, something sweet like sugar, and an essential oil that contains terps like Tea Tree or Lavender. So you’re paying for really cheap stuff, probably 20g of henna, some citric acid, and a drop or two of essential oil. That’s maybe $ 3 worth of ingredients, so don’t pay $ 20 for an off the shelf henna kit.
